The South Jersey Poets Collective hosts World Above, a monthly basis open mic and featured poet reading. As Dante ascends from the Inferno & rises from the shadows he finds himself “in a world above.” This is where we exist.  In a universe that contains infinity, we speak of everything through our poetry in a “World Above.”

These open mics are open to the public for free. Everyone is encouraged to attend and to share their poetry. We want to hear your voice and request that if you are reading that you are respectful of those around you while remaining honest to yourself. No threatening, racist, homophobic or hateful messages of any sort will be tolerated. Please be advised that this series is recommended for adults due to the potentially mature nature of the poems read.

Each poet reading in the Open Mic is invited to share one poem, less than two-minutes long. During the intermission, the Noyes Arts Garage Cafe is open and attendees may peruse the open artist studios. A take-home writing prompt is offered at each session. The Featured Poet often reads for thirty minutes, followed by Q&A and book signing.
