On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 7:30pm the South Jersey Poets Collective welcomes Patrick Rosal as the featured poet to World Above Free Poetry Night at Stockton University’s Noyes Arts Garage (2200 Fairmount Ave, Atlantic City, NJ 08401).

This month’s event is preceded by a screening of “Our Side: The Other Atlantic City” and Q&A with author Turiya S.A. Raheem from 6pm-7:30pm.

Our usual Open Mic, where participants read one poem that is less than two minutes long, will run from 7:30pm-8:00pm. Please arrive by 7:15pm to secure a spot in the Open.

After the break, participants will return to a free take-home writing prompt; then, Patrick Rosal will read.

Patrick Rosal is the author of four books of poetry: Boneshepards (2011); My American Kundiman (2006), which received a Poetry/Prose Award from the Association for Asian American Studies; and Uprock Headspin Scramble and Dive (2003), winner of the Members’ Choice Award from the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, and Brooklyn Antediluvian (Persea, 2016). In 2009, Rosal was awarded a Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship to the Philippines. In 2017, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. He teaches creative writing at Rutgers University-Camden.
