ImageI hope this good weather has you excited about writing and sharing that poetic work in spring’s fresh air.  Your participation in the following festival will not only benefit your poetic process but will prove to inspire those members of our local community who are not frequently exposed to poetry readings.

The first annual Birch Grove Poetry Festival will take place on Saturday, June 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bandstand in Birch Grove Park. The poetry festival is sponsored by the Otto Bruyns Public Library and the South Jersey Poets Collective. The festival is free and open to the public. Free poetry workshops will be available but registration is required and space is limited.

1pm: Poetry Reading from participants in the Senior Poetry Workshop (a program presented on a monthly basis at the library in conjunction with the Stockton Center On Successful Aging)

2pm: Enjoy Live Jazz by The Brewster from 1400 WOND”s Brewster’s Jazz Café while participating in a community poetry project that will hopefully become an installment in the park to be enjoyed by visitors throughout the summer.

3pm: Free Poetry Workshop by Emari DiGiorgio (to register call 646-4476)

3pm: Free Poetry workshop by Peter Murphy (to register call 646-4476)

3pm: Open Mic at the Bandstand, for those not participating in a workshop

The poetry festival is one way the library hopes to reach out to the community and bring more programing to the residents. We seek to inform, entertain and inspire the city of Northfield while providing unique opportunities to individuals across the South Jersey area.
